Did You Know Veils Can Be Blessed?

Friend of Veils by Lily Michelle Regis recently shared with us several photos of her pilgrimage to the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, MA.

Michelle visited the beautiful Shrine this past weekend, which she called "the most amazing and holy place." This is where she was called to veil in March of this year when she went to venerate the relics of the Passion of Our Lord. It was when she returned home after that visit that she "was so blessed" to find Veils by Lily.

Jesus, I trust in you!

"I was so excited that after the Divine Mercy Chaplet (said daily at 3:00 pm) all religious items and articles were blessed and my starter veil was on for the sprinkling of the Holy water with the blessing...now my Veil by Lily is BLESSED! What an amazing Grace!"

Which brings up a great point. Did you know that veils can be blessed?

Veils are considered sacramentals because they help us lift our hearts and minds to God. As such, a veil can be blessed by a priest in the same way that a rosary or a holy image can be blessed.

Fr. Arthur Tonne explains:

How can mere material things help us on the way to heaven? How can water, metal, or a piece of cloth help save our souls? You must ever remember that these objects in themselves have no power to save or help us. It would be superstitious to say they had any such power. But things like a crucifix, a holy picture, a statue, a candle, do excite spiritual thoughts and feelings in those who use them correctly. They excite the fear and love of God; they arouse trust and hope in His mercy; they awaken sorrow and joy in the Lord. Their value lies in the fact that they have been set aside by the Church for sacred purposes, by the power of the Church's official prayer, and by the merits of Christ, preserved and distributed by His Church. (Talk on the Sacramentals, 1950)
